Designed for couples, families and friends, Cynefin Retreats offers seven beautifully crafted pods and lodges immersed in the Welsh Borders landscape.

The four Luxe-Pods are perfect for romantic escapes, with open-plan living, handcrafted floating bed, wood-burning stove, underfloor heating and floor-to-ceiling windows framing countryside views. Private hot tub, terrace and fire pit with BBQ grill create the perfect setting for relaxing beneath the stars.

The three Luxe-Lodges offer two bedrooms, vaulted ceilings, flexible sleeping arrangements and spacious open-plan living, with huge glass doors opening onto private decking and hot tub.

Guests can enjoy walking, cycling, canoeing, wild swimming and horse riding, or explore the bookshops, galleries, cafés and markets of nearby Hay-on-Wye.

With sustainability at its heart, Cynefin combines thoughtful design, locally sourced materials and energy-efficient construction to create a peaceful escape where modern comfort meets nature.

Access

Cynefin Retreats is set in a peaceful rural countryside location, approximately three miles from Hay-on-Wye. Access is via country lanes, with on-site parking available for guests. Wheelbarrows are provided to assist with transporting luggage from the parking area to the accommodation. The retreat is located in a natural countryside setting, with woodland, meadows, and outdoor areas that may include uneven terrain depending on weather conditions. The accommodation is not fully wheelchair accessible. The lodges are arranged over two floors, with bedrooms and bathrooms located upstairs, so they may not be suitable for guests with significant mobility limitations. Guests with accessibility requirements are encouraged to contact the retreat team before booking, who can advise on the suitability of the accommodation and facilities for individual needs. Additional family facilities include travel cots, highchairs, and stair gates where required.
