Hay Thursday Market

Hay Market Day, every Thursday, 9am to 2.30pm. Trading for 700 years, Hay Market Day brings over 40 traders to the centre of Hay. Offering a diverse range of items, from local produce and hot food, to artisan crafts and vintage, there is something for everyone, locals and visitors alike. Often quoted as the best day in Hay to visit the town, so come to peruse, to socialise, to eat, to shop, and, most of all, to enjoy Hay Market Day!

The market is held throughout town, with traders in Memorial Square, the Cheese Market hall, Butter Market hall and around the Clock Tower. Open every Thursday year-round.

Hay Saturday Market

Monthly Saturday market running in the market square from April to October (no June), with local producers, street food, makers and artisans.

2023 dates: 1 April // 6 May // 1 July // 5 August // 2 September // 7 October.

Cheese Market Hall

There is a small market held 10am-4pm every Saturday throughout the year in the Cheese Market hall on Memorial Square, with African homewares, vintage clothing, organic vegetables, plant-dyed wools and handmade jewellery.

Butter Market Hall

There are regular independent markets and events held on many Saturdays in the Buttermarket hall, such as the Mad Hatters Craft Market (held bi-monthly), Fairtrade Hay Fair, CD fairs, crafts and collectibles markets and local charity events.

Friday Flea Market

The Friday Flea is occasionally held in the Buttermarket on Fridays during the busier months, selling an eclectic range of bric‐a‐brac, antiques, collectables, jewellery and books.
